August 20 - September 11, 2010

International Sound Art Festival Berlin 2010
Concerts / Exhibition / Symposium - at special locations in the underground of Berlin
International Sound Art Festival Berlin in its fifth year deals with questions about dichotomy, borderlines and interdependencies of personal and collective perception of time and space in music - and through sound. Which kind of relationships can be recognized between form and content in the spatial perception of musical or artificially formed sound events? What about the distinction of the shape in space and time of a soundfile and its inner structure? How could differences be described and what about artistic sense or assistance of such descriptions? The time structures of the performed pieces in the festival are, according to the topic, extreme: ultra short (up to some seconds) or very long. There will be a lot of first performances presented in a variety of new concert formats.
The concerts are accompagnied by a sound art exhibition 'To Feel A Moment' refers to the topic on a very special way. Newly created installations are referring in a highly sensible manner to the very special locations at the underground of the city of Berlin - partly interactively playable, partly to be "situatively" experienced. The art scenario which is openend on August 20, 2010 at 7 p.m. is the first exhibition worldwide conceived 'multisensorial' from the very beginning and from the first moment on. The art works are using many sensual channels in different combinations for the experience of artistic sensations. So you will find there some new unusual possibilities 'To Feel A Moment'.
Again there will be a scientific symposium in 2010, directed by Prof. Christa Bruestle where the festival artists meet and discuss with music and art historians. This is a cooperation with _tiefKLANG and University of The Fine Arts Berlin, Germany.
As novum there will be individual introductions and discussions of the music and sound art works together with the composers and sound artists before each concert.
